International consensus building: NATO in its 60s, what is the future? What do you wish it to do?

On Monday, 16 June 2014, at 01:00 p.m., Prof. Lawrence R. Chalmer gave a presentation on the subject of ‚International Consensus Building‘ as part of the lecture ‚Öffentliche Meinung‘. Prof. Chalmer is an international guest speaker for the US Departments of State and Defense. He worked in 14 NATO countries with media, academic communities and government agencies discussing and advising on important international security issues.

In his lecture, Prof. Chalmer elaborated on the challenges of international consensus build-ing, the potential directions of development of the NATO and the role of Germany in the NATO, in Europe and internationally. He encouraged the students to discuss about their opinions upon Germany’s needs and goals in the NATO. The audience was especially inter-ested in the role of Germany and the NATO regarding current critical situations as in Ukraine, Iran or Afghanistan.
